Felix is the story about a little stray dog living in New Orleans who learns to trust in others, particularly a homeless stranger named Esme, who takes him in and cares for him. The story revolves around the value of lending help to others in need, the value of friendship, and paying it forward to others along the way in life.
This 2D Animated short film is a production by James Rogers III at the University of Southern California. Of the entire student showcase, it was the only animated film pitched and approved for the program. My job as Assistant Animator on the character, Felix, was to carry the vision and personality of our main character. I drew in-betweens for the Key Animator, Viviane Guimaraes, and animated long-range shots from scratch. For this project I used digi-traditional animation techniques using TVPaint.
