ICNG Media is an advertising agency that works under KSDY-50, a Hispanic television station in San Diego that serves Latin American, Mexican, and Spanish speaking demographic within the San Diego County.
As a graphic designer, it was my responsibility to release graphics for campaigns, web banners, banners, event ads, flyers, brochure ads, company logo, and update those images on WordPress. Precision was key when working with language barriers as well as cultural aspects and boundaries. Working with ICNG helped me gain valuable experience in a fast-paced and dynamic organization.
My favorite project when working with ICNG was designing the flyers and movie screen ads for KSDY-50. This project demanded a lot of thought and integration of Hispanic culture, and required English to Spanish translation. In this project I learned what KSDY-50 stood for as a TV broadcasting station, and the channels within it that each focus on certain subjects. For example, Milenio covers news, TVC Latino covers sports, cooking, and health, and Mexicanal relates to family, art, movies, and cultural relations. Each of these channels provides the Spanish community with information and family activities. Based on this cultural style, I designed a two-sided flyer (translated in both English and Spanish), and movie screen ad with colorful shapes and photos that each corresponded to the channels’ content.
